NBNU is working with BloodWatch.org, a not-for-profit organization advocating for a safe, voluntary, public blood system in Canada. Together we are committed to upholding Justice Horace Krever’s landmark inquiry and his recommendations.
Along with others, NBNU calls on the Federal government to uphold the Krever Inquiry and rescind licenses granted to private, for-profit blood collection clinics that are selling Canadian blood abroad.
New Brunswick’s provincial government has allowed CPR, a private blood collection clinic, to open in Moncton with plans of expansion. Ontario, Quebec and Alberta have all banned private blood clinics.
Tomorrow marks the 20th anniversary of the Krever Inquiry into the tainted blood scandal, which resulted in an estimated 8,000 Canadian lives lost.
