Nurse managers and supervisors and the nurses, part III are covered by a hospital pension plan called the “Certain Bargaining Employees” (CBE) Pension plan. This plan also covers other health care professions and some members of the New Brunswick Union of Public and Private Employees.
The CBE Pension Plan is administered through the Office of Human Resources by the Pension Benefits Division. The CBE Pension Committee involves union and government representatives. The Pension Committee reviews investments, the performance of investment managers, and examines strategies to provide an increase in benefits and other pension improvements for the members.
Representatives of the New Brunswick Nurses Union sitting on this committee are Janet Walker, unit representative, nurse managers/nurse supervisors; Shelley Duggan, unit representative, nurses, Part III; and Marilyn Quinn, president. The executive director sits as an advisor on this committee. If nurses have any questions concerning their pension plan, log on to the government’s pension website or call a labour relations officer at the NBNU’s provincial office for assistance.
Part-time nurses are covered by a part-time and seasonal employee plan that is operated through Standard Life. This is a group RRSP plan and is optional to part-time employees. Nurses are reminded that under this plan the employer matches their contribution. NBNU is currently represented on this committee by Marilyn Quinn and Maureen Wallace.
Questions regarding this pension plan should be directed to the benefits officer within the Human Resources Office at the nurse’s place of employment or to Standard Life by calling the following toll-free number: 1.800.563.1833.Return home
