Becoming an RN

Attention: open in a new window. PDFPrintE-mail

To become a registered nurse in New Brunswick requires a bachelor of nursing degree. You will need a sound academic record and you will need to develop strong communication skills. There are excellent nursing programs offered across the province by the University of New Brunswick and l’Université de Moncton, as well as many others offered across the country. Once you’ve completed your degree, you will have to pass a provincial licensing exam in order to be able to practice as a registered nurse.

To learn how you can make a difference as a registered nurse, talk to a practicing registered nurse or consult a guidance counsellor. Another good way to get a glimpse into the nursing profession is to contact your local hospital for volunteer opportunities that may interest you. This experience can better your chances of getting into the nursing school of your choice.
