NBNU Launches New Ad Campaign on TV

In order to support negotiations for all three bargaining groups, NBNU has developed three new television spots with the slogan “There Is No Substitute For a Registered Nurse.” The campaign spots, in English and French, began airing the week of January 23, 2012.

NBNU Takes Action On Violence in the Workplace

The New Brunswick Nurses’ Union (NBNU) would like to bring attention to the issue of violence in the workplace with an aim to bring about changes to the Occupational Health and Safety Act. There is an urgent need across this province to initiate action for legislative changes to protect nurses and health care workers from workplace violence including , but not limited to, harassment.

The CFNU held its Biennial Convention in Winnipeg, June 13-17 and resolutions were passed calling for the CFNU
to take action to improve working conditions, our public health care system and to eliminate discrimination for
vulnerable groups.

Experience Hunger Project

hungerprojectMarilyn Quinn, NBNU president, recently participated in a project to raise awareness of poverty, hunger and inadequate social assistance funding. As part of the “Experience Hunger Project,” our NBNU president ate at the local Fredericton soup kitchen and survived on the food she was given by the food bank for three days.

 

The Common Front for Social Justice (CFSJ) launched its “Experience Hunger Project” to fight against the prejudice that it's possible to survive with the social assistance rates currently in effect. It’s a way to help put a stop to myths surrounding social assistance recipients.
